A.M.- Meeting at airport, transfer to the city and brief orientation on route, transfer to the dock, short stop at the mouth of the Nanay river to observe pink dolphins, continuation of cruise (40 Kms) down the mighty AMAZON river to Amazon Lodge. Welcome drink made of tropical fruits, brief orientation about the surroundings by your naturalist guide, accommodations in private bungalows as requested.
P.M.- Afternoon to explore the wonderful primary low land rainforest within the BIO-PRESERVE “AMADEUS”, huge trees of “LUPUNA” and many other species, insects, birds, monkeys, reptiles, mammals, plants, herbs, epiphytes dispersed everywhere you look at.
Evening canoe trip in search of caimans, while enjoying the sounds of the rainforest.
Lunch – Dinner.
A.M.- Early morning canoe trip for birdwatching.
Later, open boat trip up the YANAYACU River and short walk through the jungle to visit the friendly
“YAGUA” Indians, enjoy seeing their ancient customs, making handicrafts and a demonstration of target shooting with blowguns (a lethal weapon still used for hunting small games).
P.M.- Afternoon trip for fishing “Piranhas” and many other kinds according the season (low/high water), return at sunset hour.
Explore the jungle at night, walking along trails to discover more wildlife which are not seeing in day time!!.
Breakfast – Lunch- Dinner
A.M.- Boat /Walk trip to visit the rescue center of endangered species of primates at “MONKEY ISLAND”, see, learn and participate handling, feeding and training them before they are returned to their natural habitat. A unique experience!!
P.M.- After lunch return to Iquitos for a short walking city tour, visiting the Amazonian museum and buildings from the rubber boom until time to go to the airport.
- NOTE: We reserve the right to alter, change or cancel the sequence of programs due to the drastic change of climate and river level conditions (October-November low water / February-May high water level).
- WHAT TO BRING: Come prepared for a hot and humid climate, bring a par of tennis shoes, sufficient summer clothing for the days to stay in the jungle, a small flashlight with batteries, insect repellent, rain gear, sunglass, camera, hat, sun blockers and your personal gears, medicines, personal insurance.
- Small baggage is suggested due to space on boats going to lodge.
- Some cash to purchase handcrafts from the villagers and bar expenses.
